Genetic health testing

First I would like to express to your that I am a Dedicated Home Breeder with babies generally form 10-14lbs full grown.

Our smallest puppy is 6.5 pounds are biggest in 17lbs. When breeding we need to look at several generations behind them.

Being a responsible breeder takes ALOT of work and cost a considerable amount of finances. Especially when most breeders do NOT do any type of genetic testing their dogs. I can not tell you the countless times I have taken an adult in for their testing and they don't pass. When this happens I always call the breeder I adopted the dog from and let me know. From my experience most breeder do NOT stand behind what I have bought from them, since no one guarantees a breeding quality dog. Even tho they charge you extra for it. And to be honest if I had a dollar for every time a breeder told me oh breed her/him you are just doing mix breeds it don't matter. Or my favorite one is I know my lines it will not be passed on...

I say and thank Ya right then how dose this dog have it !!!!!

I do several genetic testing on all my adults. The reason this must be done is to make sure my parents carry have faults for the breed they are. Just because a breeder is having cross bred pups dose not always make them healthier. A cross bred baby can have any issues that is known in their parent breeds. When you are mixing breeding you are doubling the issues they can have. Because they are receiving both genetics from their parents. The whole point of breeding is to better the breed, and to produce the BEST puppies for puppy parents. The ONLY way this can be done it to do testing to make sure your adults do not have NO health issues they can pass on to the puppies.

For instance a shih tzu can have kidney problems and a bichon frise can have skin problems

So a shih tzu bichon mix or what we call the FuzzyWuzzyPuppy can have both kidney issues and skin issue..

Some health issues may not show up until later in life after they are retired from a breeders breeding program. The only way to be 100% that your parent's have no health issues that they could pass on to their off spring is to do genetic testing. If a breeder has the mom and dad registered no matter what registry it dose not make them Quality.

All my mom's and dads GENETICALLY tested showing no genetic faults. Any fault the parent has can be passed on to their babies.
